Construction of Balanced Incomplete Block Designs Using Cyclic Shifts
نویسندگان
چکیده
The construction of balanced incomplete block designs is considered using the method of cyclic shifts. An interesting feature of this method is that there is no need to construct the bocks of the actual design to obtain the properties of a design. One can obtain the off-diagonal elements of the concurrence matrix from the sets of shifts with less effort. A catalogue of balanced incomplete block designs for 3 ≤ v ≤ 18 with k = v -1, 19 ≤ v ≤ 100 with k = 2, 3 and for 19 ≤ v ≤ 25 with k = 4, 5 restricted with r < 60 is compiled.

Cyclic Polygonal Designs with Block size 3 and Joint Distance 3
Polygonal designs, a class of partially balanced incomplete block designs with regular polygons, are useful in survey sampling in terms of balanced sampling plans excluding contiguous units (BSECs) and balanced sampling plans excluding adjacent units (BSAs) when neighboring units in a population provide similar information. In this paper, the method of cyclic shifts is used and cyclic polygonal...
متن کاملConstructing Cyclic PBIBD(2)s through an Optimization Approach: Thirty Two New Cyclic Designs
We formulate the construction of cyclic partially balanced incomplete block designs with 2 associate classes as a combinatorial optimization problem. We propose an algorithm based on tabu search to tackle the problem. Our algorithm constructed 32 new cyclic designs.
متن کاملNew Box-Behnken designs
Box and Behnken (1960) constructed 10 three-level, second-order designs, while their 1958 technical report contained seven additional designs. This series of designs is based on combining 2 or 2 designs in different subsets of the t factors, with k < t. The subsets of size k were determined using balanced (or partially balanced) incomplete block designs. This present article offers additional B...
متن کاملConstruction of Second Order Slope - Rotatable Designs
In this paper, a new method of construction of three and five level second order slope-rotatable designs (SOSRD) using two suitably chosen dissimilar incomplete block designs like balanced incomplete block designs and symmetrical unequal block arrangements with two unequal block sizes is developed. The method of construction of SOSRD by Victorbabu and Narasimham [11] is shown to be a particular...
متن کاملCyclic Polygonal Designs with Block Size 3 and λ = 1 for Joint Distance α = 6 to 16
Stufken (1993) first introduced cyclic polygonal designs (CPDs) (in terms of cyclic balanced sampling plans excluding adjacent units (CBSAs)) for joint distance α ≥ 2. Wei (2002) first suggested the use of Langford sequence for the existence and construction of CPDs with block size k = 3 and λ = 1 for arbitrary α . Zhang and Chang (2005b) used Langford and extended Langford sequence, and constr...
